I am Hongyu Mao.

My name is Hongyu Mao (She/Her),

I am a research assistant at CMU's Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII), I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Master of Science in Computational Design. I collaborate with Professor Mayank Goel and Dr. Karan Ahuja on novel interaction tools at CMU Smash Lab. My master's thesis focused on developing privacy-preserving methods for hand pose tracking.

I am interested in Interaction Techniques, Sensing & ML, Mixed Reality, and Fabrication. I am driven by the belief that future interactive systems should seamlessly adapt to fluid user contexts, enabling them to focus on their experiences and goals without being constrained by the interface.
